Robert Osburn, PhD, Executive Director
Bob Osburn has a PhD in international education from the University of Minnesota (2005), where he also was an adjunct lecturer for seven years in the Department of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development. In 1978 he earned his ThM in Christian education at Dallas Theological Seminary, after earning a BA from the University of Michigan (1973). He has spent 32 years serving in international student and academic ministry at the University of Minnesota, and successfully launched the 1998 World View for World Healing Conference that challenged international students to engage the deepest needs of their societies on the basis of a Christian worldview. Waihon Liew, Project Manager/Training Associate
Waihon is from Malaysia, where he was considered one of Southeast Asia's top high school competitors in track and field competition. He first came to the United States for college in 1988-1990, when he studied human resources management at Winona State University in Minnesota. While at Winona State, he was the president of the Malaysian Student Association and competed at the US University National Track & Field Meet (NCAA) in the long jump competition.
Beginning in 2003, he helped to pioneer international student ministry in Malaysia. He has taught as adjunct faculty at St Mary’s University, Minnesota and at INTI University, Malaysia in comparative religions and philosophy. Prior to full time student ministry, Waihon was a human resource officer at a Malaysian bank where he trained and oversaw performance management for about 2000 employees. He has received his theological training from Berean Bible Institute and ACTS International Bible College in Minnesota.
Waihon loves photography and uses photography as a platform to educate and create awareness on social issues. He has exhibited his photos at Winona State University, the University of Minnesota, and in Malaysia. When visiting his home country, Waihon conducts educational workshops in both public and private schools. Waihon has 3 wonderful children, Ellie, Joseph and Daniel, and wife Donna who is also engaged in student ministry at the University of Minnesota.
